DASO–NNF Awards Honouring Excellence in Obesity Science 2026

The Danish Association for the Study of Obesity (DASO) and the Novo Nordisk Foundation (NNF) are pleased to announce that the Flemming Quaade Prize for Outstanding Obesity Research and the Novo Nordisk Foundation Early Career Obesity Research Award will again be awarded in 2026.

The prizes recognise excellent and innovative scientific contributions from obesity researchers based in Denmark. By celebrating both established and emerging researchers, the awards aim to strengthen obesity research in Denmark and inspire continued scientific progress in the field.

The deadline for nominations and applications is 15 April 2026.

The Flemming Quaade Prize for Outstanding Obesity Research

The Flemming Quaade Prize recognises a mid-career researcher who has made an outstanding contribution to obesity research in Denmark. The prize honours internationally recognised scientific achievements and leadership within obesity science.

The prize is accompanied by DKK 1,000,000, of which DKK 900,000 is allocated for new research activities and DKK 100,000 is a personal award.

Candidates must be nominated by DASO members and will be evaluated by an independent international assessment committee.

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Early Career Obesity Research Award

The NNF Early Career Obesity Research Award supports a talented researcher in the early stage of their academic career who is committed to advancing obesity research in Denmark.

The award is accompanied by DKK 500,000 for new research activities over a two-year period.

In 2025, the inaugural prizes were awarded to Zachary Gerhart-Hines and Malte Palm Suppli for their innovative contributions to obesity research in Denmark.
